Welcome back!

In a previous post you started learning about tips for kitchen remodeling in Phoenix. Now here’s Part 2 of that article with still more tips for remodeling your kitchen.

Tip #1 for Kitchen Remodeling in Phoenix: Consider Your Children

If you have children, then you’ll need to think about how to design your kitchen to make it safe, yet kid friendly. This includes:

  • Placing the refrigerator in an accessible place. Not only should the fridge be easily accessible to the cook, but it should also be accessible to the traffic that flows through the kitchen while the cook is preparing a meal. You may want to consider a separate under counter beverage center that is easily accessible for kids.
  • Considering the microwave height. Your kitchen remodel in Phoenix should take into consideration how accessible appliances like the microwave are to children. You may want to place the microwave lower so that the children in your house can reach it.
  •  Putting the stove out of high-trafficked paths. This is to keep fast-moving children from accidentally running into protruding pot handles and knocking the pot’s hot contents off the stovetop.

Tip #2 for Kitchen Remodeling in Phoenix: Plan Landing Space

Landing space is a small bit of countertop that’s usually about 15 inches wide at a minimum. Typically, you put these landing spaces next to the refrigerator and the microwave, as you’ll need to set things down as you’re pulling items out of these appliances. Naturally, your kitchen remodel in Phoenix should incorporate bigger landing spaces next to appliances such as the dishwasher, since you’ll need to stack items when loading or unloading.

Tip #3 for Kitchen Remodeling in Phoenix: Make Sure Doors Aren’t Obstructed

Still another thing to take into consideration when doing a kitchen remodel in Phoenix is how well your room doors, kitchen cabinet doors and appliance doors will open. For example, if you buy bigger appliances, such as a bigger refrigerator, the room door may not open all the way if it is obstructed by the new appliance.

In addition, you’ll want to check if multiple doors can be opened at once without obstructing each other. For example, can you open the kitchen cabinet doors and the refrigerator at the same time without them bumping into each other? This is particularly important if you have two cooks in your kitchen.
