Choosing a Contractor for Your Project
5 Questions to ask before you choose who to trust with your home or business

1. Does your company hold an active contractor’s license?

a. State laws are stringent when obtaining a contractor’s license. You can rest assure that a licensed contractor has the insurance, workman’s compensation and education of building practices that are required, thus minimizing your risk. Visit www.azroc.gov to research any contractor and corresponding license(s) status.

TWD is Licensed, Bonded & Insured. ROC # 121921, 135541, 182646, 182647, 271236

2. Who will be completing the work needed? Will all aspects be completed by in-house crews?

a. Some companies will hire out the work to be done by Others. You cannot guarantee who will be in your home or business, or of their level of quality. Entrusting a company that you are unfamiliar with is a dangerous game to play. Legal responsibility, customer service and accountability are just a few of the issues that could arise with a company sub-contracts their contracts out. Choose wisely and know who will be completing the work.

TWD performs work with employee based crews and stands by our workmanship. If there is anything we cannot do, we will provide all information and discuss with you before any work begins.

3. Do you have references?

a. With recent technology, it is easier than ever to review references. Whether it be on local directories, through city chambers or organizations, or even other customers with similar work done, it is always a good idea to do your due diligence before beginning any large project.

TWD would be happy for the opportunity to show off our quality and work!

4. Are you a Better Business Bureau accredited company?

a. Always make sure to choose a BBB accredited contractor. Ask about their rating and pay attention to the answers and reaction you get. But don’t stop there! Do your due diligence and research them online at www.bbb.org to find pertinent information and if there have been any complaints made on the company.

TWD has been an accredited company since 2009 and has maintained an A+ rating.

5. Are all costs associated with the project spelled out and included in your written estimate?

a. Make sure a written out estimate with the inclusions, exclusions and specifications of your project are provided to you with the total cost of the job. Any necessary permits, submittals or construction blue prints should be included in the price or noted that they are at an additional charge.

TWD includes all costs associated with a project. We will take care of submittals to your HOA if need be, any zoning permits, and any design and/or construction plans.

Tips & Safety Measures of Lead Paint
Does my home have lead paint? What are the concerns?

“Over 80% of all housing in the U.S. built before 1978 contains some lead-based paint on the interior or exterior.”, as noted by the EPA.

Todd Whittaker Drywall Inc. is a Certified Lead Professional. If your home or business was built prior to 1978, lead-based paint should be a topic of concern. Prior to any type of paint work or remodeling, a risk assessment report should be done. The state of Arizona mandates that any contractor working on a home with possible lead paint be a certified lead professional due to the health hazards and procedures that are involved when working with lead exposure.
